Five PASRR Conundrums

Synopsis of the Topic
Led by Nancy Shanley, the November 12th webinar addressed five PASRR conundrums, or issues that are frequently asked about. The five issues included include:
1. Children in Nursing Facilities
2. PASRR and Private Pay Status
3. Linking PASRR with Nursing Facility (NF) Diversion and Transition
4. Level II Screenings for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities
5. Leveraging PASRR to Identify NFs at Risk of Institution for Mental Disease Status
Speaker
Ms. Nancy Shanley has over 20 years of experience working with individuals with behavioral health, intellectual, and developmental disorders. Ms. Shanley has implemented and managed several PASRR contracts in multiple states and has presented at multiple conferences on topics such as PASRR policies and practices. Ms. Shanley is also a PTAC consultant as well as the co-founder and former chair of the Board of the National Association of PASRR Professionals (NAPP).

Objectives - After attending this program, participants should be able to:
• Explain possible PASRR practices for children in nursing facilities.
• Develop an understanding of the relationship between PASRR and private pay status.
• Identify strategies to link PASRR with nursing facility diversion and transition activities
• Address the issue of making PASRR Level II evaluations for persons with intellectual disabilities with little context and time.
• Develop a knowledge base for using PASRR information to identify nursing facilities at risk.
