Required Disability-Specific Services: Relationship to PASRR "Specialized Services"
The June 2013 PASRR webinar took place on Tuesday, June 11 at 1:00PM - 2:30PM Eastern (10AM Pacific) and featured Dan Timmel of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Ed Kako of the PASRR Technical Assistance Center moderated the webinar.
Synopsis of Topic:
The June webinar clarified long-standing issues related to "specialized services" in PASRR.
Objectives - After attending this program, participants should be able to:
• To emphasize that individuals with serious mental illness or an intellectual/developmental disability must either be denied admission to a NF, or receive disability-specific services for their evaluated needs.
• To acknowledge that this requirement is not affected by a state’s definition of particular “specialized services."
• To distinguish the meaning of “specialized services” in the Level II process from a state’s definition of particular “specialized services."
• To introduce to state options for federal financial participation (FFP) for any disability-specific services a state defines for NF residents.
*Note that CMS has requested that the slides for this presentation not be posted. The only item in the archive is the recording of the webinar itself.
